Affiliate member: Anyone can be an affiliate member regardless of whether or not he or she has obtained a baccalaureate degree. Affiliate members do not have voting rights but are otherwise invited to participate in all GWIS functions, activities, events, and conferences.
Full member: Anyone with a baccalaureate degree, regardless of their gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class. Many of our members hold masters and doctoral degrees, but our membership is open to anyone who holds a baccalaureate degree and who supports the mission of our organization.

NATIONAL GWIS FELLOWSHIPS AND GRANTS: GWIS awards several research fellowships each year. The application fees for these awards are waived for current members.

RECEIVE BULLETINS THREE TIMES A YEAR: The Bulletin features GWIS chapter news, a letter from the President, inspiring stories of women scientists, book reviews, articles about controversial current issues, photos of recent GWIS events, and fellowships winners recognitions. It’s basically the best bulletin ever.
ACCESS TO EXCLUSIVE MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY: GWIS members will be able to connect with a network of over 1,000 like-minded scientists that span every scientific discipline as well as both academic and industry careers. The networking potential is limitless!
DEVELOP YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS BY PARTICIPATING IN ONE OF OUR COMMITTEES: All of these activities provide excellent opportunities for networking, allowing GWIS members the possibility to find mentors, mentees, potential new jobs, employees, and friends.
SERVE AS A DELEGATE TO THE ANNUAL AAAS MEETING: GWIS is a participating organization in the annual American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, sending delegates to at least 5 assemblies. Appointed representatives serve as voting members of the largest science organization in the United States.
PARTICIPATE IN THE GWIS NATIONAL MEETING AND SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE: GWIS hosts an annual in-person meeting to facilitate interactions between all GWIS chapters. The meeting is hosted each year by a local chapter (2019 is hosted by the Black Hills Chapter), and is a great opportunity to learn more about the organization, network and participate in professional development events.
