The official business meeting of the National GWIS organization. National Council members, including all elected and appointed members, are highly encouraged to attend. Members interested in leadership positions are invited to attend and learn how GWIS operates on the National level.

Grand Chapter Meeting
The supreme governing body of the organization consisting of the National Council and the delegates from each chapter. All members are invited to attend and participate in the National Grand Chapter meeting. This meeting consists of reports from each chapter, as well as a discussion of present and future National activities.
Sanford Underground Research Facility Field Trip
This field trip is limited to 10 people. Attendees will depart South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at 9:30 am and will return around 5:00 pm. The field trip includes lunch and round-trip transportation from South Dakota School of Mines. More information coming soon!
Science Communication Workshop
Enhance your science and engineering communication skills to effectively engage audiences of all ages in your area of expertise. Join SD Discovery Center's Education Director Rhea Waldman for a dynamic hands-on workshop based on the concepts of Portal to the Public. Portal to the Public is a NSF-funded, tested strategy that helps scientists and STEM professionals to improve their presentation skills by creating hands-on activities of their work. Distill the essence of engaging presentations, explore the power of the unknown by looking at discrepant events, dive into inquiry based learning and captivate your audience by utilizing engaging questioning strategies. This workshop is limited to 15 people and will take place from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Tickets include an afternoon snack.
Networking Socialand Black Hills Tour
This tour has a limited number of tickets. Attendees will depart South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at 5:30 pm and will return no later than 10:00 pm. The field trip includes a science drive through the Black Hills, a wine tasting and dinner at Prairie Berry Winery, a visit to Mt. Rushmore, and round-trip transportation from South Dakota School of Mines. More information coming soon!
